finance.yahoo.com/news/what-you-can-do-about-facebook-tracking-154254270.html is a good article/video about stopping Facebook from tracking your searches while on other sites and then targeting ads to you. What you can do: As long as your browser keeps cookies, you can't stop Facebook from tracking you. But you can stop it and other companies from using that information to deliver ads. To do that, you must register with each company that tracks you—and there are dozens of them. The fastest way to opt out of many at once is to use the ad industry website www.aboutads.info/choices/.

Regarding "Smart TV's" you need to beware of their information-gathering abilities, as well: news.yahoo.com/man-owns-smart-tv-says-afraid-using-reading-014529097.html..."The amount of data this thing collects is staggering. It logs where, when, how, and for how long you use the TV. It sets tracking cookies and beacons designed to detect ‘when you have viewed particular content or a particular email message.’ It records ‘the apps you use, the websites you visit, and how you interact with content.’ It ignores ‘do-not-track’ requests as a considered matter of policy.”

Apparently Facebook's "Year In Review" feature is not being met favorably by some people: vulcanpost.com/122152/dislike-facebook-year-review-feature/ (On a personal note, my son called it a "low blow" because Facebook selected some pictures of him with his ex-girlfriend...I gather she didn't appreciate it, either.)

You can always edit and delete the pics they chose with ones you do want to share, plus Facebook did not force you to post the "year in review". It is up to people if they want to post or not. There are always going to be things people dislike and things they like. I find Facebook useful for me to keep in touch with friends and family all over the world.

According to this article, there's a disturbing trend on Facebook where people copy other individual's photos (especially children's pictures) without permission, for their own use: www.yahoo.com/parenting/mom-my-son-was-digitally-kidnapped-what-112545291567.htmlA privacy app called KidsLink attempts to limit the risk. People share photos with only the friends and family whom they’ve approved to view the images and who also belong to their network in the app. “Only the people you’ve chosen can see it,” KidsLink “Chief mom officer” Titania Jordan tells Yahoo Parenting of the tool. “There’s no second wave of sharing that you’re not aware of, no strangers searching your images, no stalking.” Subscribers can also post photos to Facebook or Instagram from the app, which wipes each image clean of any location or linking metadata that would allow someone to show up in the photographer’s backyard. On a related topic, here's a video of Mark Cuban talking about how apps like Snapchat are not secure: www.businessinsider.com/mark-cuban-snapchat-cyber-dust-privacy-2015-5

It would be interesting to try between 2 people that use Gmail? Where one person writes an email, and then leave Gmail to write back and forth to each other?
Also if a person has 2 Gmail addresses? To write to ones other Gmail address, and watch what happens?

I don't like it, either. I'm an engineer, but I'm uncomfortable about how far artificial "intelligence" is going, at the expense of real human interaction and social/emotional development.

Me too, I can see AI taking over the world someday, it won't be science fiction anymore.

While this is for email? This could become the new Spam on forums? Where it could analyse a thread, and form a reply?
Though what is often unrecognized? Is the rapid advancements being made in Robotics? Where Artificial Intelligence? Will become Artificial Beings.
But another important advancement, that will probably occur early in the next decade? Is when we shift from Binary computers, to Quantum computers. Which will make today's computers look like calculators?
Quantum computers have already been developed. Where the only obstacle to them, is how to cope with the heat that generate while processing.
Though the real future concern? Is what need Artificial Intelligence Beings, will have for people? Maybe they will just keep people as Pets?

Eoffg, What you are describing is even more frightening. For now, I am grateful that this forum is moderated by "live human beings" so if responses on discussion threads seem "unusual," then they can be deleted.
