I just wanted to say that I used to get jealous of the kids who got help with stims. My son immediatly got a tic from Adderal xr, so stims are really out of the question. Strattera didn't work for us either, after trying for 8 weeks, then trying again w/ Wellbutrin.
We're still on the med rollercoaster as my son's anxities are still front and center, but his adhd symtoms are really under control. He has the same teacher for 1st grade as he had last year and she says the change in him is amazing. He's been on Wellbutrin SR, then Wellbutrin XL since August 1st. School and home are much better. He has friends now, and enjoys school. He's even been a big help to the teacher. I couldn't believe all the great things I was hearing at our 504 Plan meeting. I was floating on air! However:
We're still working on the anxiety. That seems to be a bit harder. But he is able to talk about it now and recognize his feelings. I think emotions moved too fast for him before to understand how he was feeling. So I have yet another problem to tackle. At least now I have faith (at least for the time being) that we'll find the right help and answers for our son.

I think this post was meant for me... thanks. I feel like giving up but then get a spark that will take me through the next challenge. Our son is dealing with tics and anxiety also. He has been on Concerta and just today we were told to start Strattera. I am disappointed it didn't work for your son. It is really amaziing how different these kids are. I thought Welbutrin was supposed to help with anxiety? Our son is being put on Strattera to help with his anxiety. Maybe the kids are more alike than we know and it is the doctors who are different... Just wondering if you tried other stims? Concerta was not our first try.
