My son is dyslexia and adhd and has IEP since first grade. This year in 4th grade we have been experiencing alot of behavioral issues in the afternoons. We put him on Adderall XR 10 mg. and 5 mg at lunch time. We are still experiencing a little afternooons behaviorals and now sometimes morning behavioral. He sometimes refuses to do the work. Should I change his dosage. He did better on the short acting dosage 5 mg. Adderall.

More people will see your question if you post it under the "Medication" portion of this website. www.millermom.proboards107.com/index.cgi?board=generalMy son also takes Adderall XR and Adderall. I would encourage you to speak with your son's doctor about medication changes, and if you feel he did better on short acting, let the doctor know that. With regards to refusing to do the work, it's important to realize that no medication will "make" a student do the work. It's also important to know that ADHD is accompanied by learning disabilities in many children, and it's possible your son is refusing to do the work because it's harder in 4th grade, and he may not know how to do it....Is it only certain subjects, like reading or writing or math, or does it vary?
