Got my kids report cards today. My 4th grade, ADDer, got the following:
A (100) in Science A (98) in History/Geography A (92) in Reading B (84) in Language Arts D (66) iin Math
Was pleasantly surprised actually. I did kinda expect the D in Math, he has just NOT been getting multiplication tables, and that seems to be a huge part of the grade this year. And as time goes on, he will be timed more on them.
Was surprised he got a B in Language Arts, since he has tons of trouble with sentence structure, parts of speech and the like. If I remember correctly, the teacher said they were just starting into the writing component of Language Arts.
I have requested to have him tested for LD in math and written expression, and am currently in waiting mode. The state requires 6 weeks of school intervention before testing any student, and we just started that this week.
I have also gotten a college student to tutor him in math and Language Arts two days a week. He thinks it "cool" that a 'college-student' is tutoring him, hope it helps him learn.
My non-ADD DD got straight A's, lowest grade was a 93. It's amazing just HOW different kids can be when it comes to learning.
