Hello everyone,
I am a graduate student and have an assignment for my consultation, frameworks and issues class that requires interviewing two people who work with a child. i already interviewed a BCBA and now need parent input. Here are my questions, i would appreciate it if someone would respond so i can get two different responses.
1. What have you done to increase collaboration with other individuals in your child's life? (those that work with him/her)
2.Any positive experiences with collaboration
3.Negative experiences you may have come across with collaboration?
4.Any advice/recommendations you would give to future educators
I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Welcome to our forum, eman086. Several other prospective school psychologists and special ed teachers have posed similar questions to parents over the years, and you can read about my son's story at millermom.proboards.com/thread/13329/future-teacher-parent-interviewPerhaps the only one of your question that I didn't directly address is about negative experiences with collaboration...For me, besides the fact that I had to spend inordinate amounts of time (and money for private tutoring) there were times when I felt my opinions were being discounted because "they had degrees in education" whereas I was "just the parent." Another situation arose when my son was in middle school, and my hope was that a tutor could help him with "organization and planning skills" for longer-term projects, which would have meant getting input from his different teachers, but most of them weren't cooperative, even though I'd filled out FERPA forms. If you have additional questions, I'll be happy to respond again later.
