medicalxpress.com/news/2016-07-prenatal-exposure-paracetamol-autism-spectrum.html"A new study has found that paracetamol (acetaminophen), which is used extensively during pregnancy, has a strong association with autism spectrum symptoms in boys and for both genders in relation to attention-related and hyperactivity symptoms. The findings were published this week in the International Journal of Epidemiology." The above link gives more details about the study, but as www.babycenter.com/404_is-it-safe-to-use-acetaminophen-during-pregnancy_1246887.bc also says, "Acetaminophen (also sold under the brand name Tylenol) is the most commonly-used medication during pregnancy. The drug hasn't been well studied in pregnant women. (Few drugs have.) But it has been widely used for decades and is considered by healthcare providers to be the over-the-counter pain reliever and fever reducer of choice during pregnancy. In fact, because fevers during pregnancy can cause many risks to the developing baby, doctors recommend that you take acetaminophen if your fever is 101 degrees Fahrenheit or higher." Clearly, this is a topic that merits more study, since so many people can be impacted by the outcome!
