Hi everyone! I don't think I've posted in quite some time!! It's been a busy year for both me and DD.
After graduating with an AA from Landmark College in December 2014, DD had decided to stay and complete her BA there. She only stayed one semester, then transferred to one of our state schools. She has had a fantastic year at the state school! She says the academics are not any more difficult and actually a bit less work than Landmark. She's really enjoying the more traditional college atmosphere, has joined a club in her major and is working part-time. She is planning on GRADUATING next May! After this semester, she has one semester of classes remaining, then will spend the last semester completing a 450 hour practicum in Social Work/Mental Health. She interviewed for her first choice practicum last week and was offered the position on the spot!
Meanwhile, I sold my home last summer and downsized into townhouse/condo and am loving it!
Thank you all for being here and keeping these boards going!

Congratulations to your daughter! I don't know if you remember me but my son was at Landmark with your daughter & we communicated off line a little bit. My son also graduated from Landmark with his AA in December 2014. He transferred to Marist College for the Spring of 2015 - he's had a few bumps in the road academically but he has become so much better at advocating for himself. His problems are still with organization and focus. If all goes well he will graduate August 2017. He has been taking 12 credits/semester plus one summer course...so for the Summer of 2017, he will hopefully have 6 elective credits left. Per the advice of his advisor, he will try to get a 6 credit internship that summer. He has used the Special Services department at Marist but next year we are upping his support (he had been working with the Assistant Director, meeting with her once a week) but we are going to do the paid support with learning specialist for next year (and extra $2500/semester).
Keep the faith momma's there is light at the end of the tunnel!

LurkNoMore, Thank you for giving us an update on your son! Can we ask what he's majoring in? We hope that he continues to grow both academically and maturity-wise, and that you'll be celebrating his graduation soon!

Thanks Healthy! He is majoring in History with a minor in Psychology. He is not sure what he wants to do yet but he knows it won't be teaching (unless someday it is at the college level). We are hoping that the internship he gets next summer helps him to figure things out. His historical interest is in World War II especially the Pacific Theater. His older sister has been teaching in Hawaii for the last two years so we joke with her that he can move in with her and work at either Pearl Harbor or one of the other museums there...she is not going for it LOL.
We figure that someday he will find his niche & then he will thrive. When I read through my old posts a while back I realize how far he has come.
