techcrunch.com/2016/03/05/3-signs-youll-soon-be-attending-a-coding-bootcamp-at-your-college/The above article points out that more and more colleges are offering computer coding bootcamps not just for computer science majors who want to become web developers, but to increase technical skills for all students. Gregg Cox, the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lynn University (a liberal arts college in FL) said, “Even if some of our students don’t become coders, in today’s world, being technical will help in any career.”

This is really a good thing. If you read the studies I read and talk to the folks I talk to (at places like Google and Stanford), it is pretty scary as to how many high skill white collar jobs will be replaced by computers. Even my daughter's nurse practitioner job might be at risk some day between AI and robots. It makes sense to know about coding (although low level coding will probably also be replaced by AI.

I concur that it's good for all students to know more about computer coding...there are some efforts being made to give kids in elementary/middle school exposure to it, but a huge part of that problem is still "breaking out of the old, familiar curriculum" as well as finding qualified, knowledgeable teachers.
