Student needs to interview student with a disability

Hello, I am a college student currently taking a class on School Psychology. I have this assignment that requires me to interview a student of any age group who has or has had a disability and write a paper on it. If you would like to answer some questions or know if someone who would be willing to it would be greatly appreciated. 1. When did you realize that you learn differently from your same age peers?
2. What type of classroom setting did you receive services (desperate school, inclusion, resource, and/or self-contained)?
3. Did you participate in physical education with your same age peers?
4. Did you participate in extracurricular activities within and/or outside of school?
5. What is your disability?
6. What age did you begin receiving services?
7. Did you receive related services? If so, what type? Explain the activities completed in the service received. (Speech/language pathologist, occupational therapy, physical therapy, vision services, counseling services, psychological services, transportation)
8. Did you receive supplemental services? If so, what type? Explain the purpose. (Text-to-talk device, calculator, electronic books, testing accommodations, peer buddies, preferential seating, etc.)
9. What do you remember regarding the evaluation process?
10. Were you prescribed any medication? If so, what type?
11. Did you test out (no longer required) of special education service?
12. Did you attend higher education? If so, did you receive accommodations to assist with academics?
13. Explain your thoughts and feelings whenever receiving special education services?
14. If your child requires special education services, would you be receptive to your child receiving services?
15. What type of suggestions or recommendations would you give a special education teacher?

Itssoolarae, welcome to Millermom's special ed forum. Are you majoring in special ed or in psychology, and just taking a School Psychology class this semester? We've had a number of college students majoring in special education, who have asked to interview parents before, but I'm not sure I remember anyone asking to interview students directly. It might be tough to get younger kids to respond, in part because they don't have enough "life experience," but also it's the middle of the school year, and they're probably swamped with regular homework.

itssoolarae, I'm glad that Bros, one of the young adults I mentioned earlier, has agreed to respond to your questions. I still hope you'll read my son's story, especially as it pertains to the suggestions/recommendations I'd give to a special ed teacher. It's vitally important to remember that not all kids with LDs/ADHD are ”dumb” or incapable; contrary to certain teacher’s beliefs, some are extremely bright, but they need to be taught to their strengths. One style or method of instruction doesn’t fit all. Having an LD doesn't mean children can't learn, but they learn differently, and a "one size fits all" approach to teaching doesn't work.
