"Hello, I am currently working on my certification to be a teacher , and I need to interview a parent of a student with a learning disability. I thought it would best to do this assignment anonymously in order to receive honest answers and reactions. The questions are posted below. If any parent, or a few parents would be able to take a few minutes to answer them, I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance for your time.
1) age, and grade of the child 2) Disability or disabilities of the child 3) At what age was your child diagnosed with their disability? 4) At what age or grade did your child begin receiving special education services? What type of services? 5) What type of special education services are they receiving now? 6) Has the IEP process been helpful for you and your child? Why or why not? 7) What are your child’s strengths? 8)What are his/her areas of difficulty? 9)What are your dreams for your child? 10)Describe how the school has been helpful in supporting your child’s education 11) What would you change about your child’s school or program? 12)Would you like to share a recent accomplishment your child has achieved? 13)What can teachers do to help you and your child? 14)Do you have any suggestions or comments to share with general education and special education teachers? 15)Is there any other information you would like to share?

Hello and welcome to our forum. We have had a number of "future special education teachers" ask to interview parents in the past. I'm not sure if you're looking specifically for parents of young children who are still in elementary school, or if parents of any children with learning differences will do. You can read my son's story at millermom.proboards.com/thread/13329/future-teacher-parent-interview

Hello Healthy 11, The teacher said to interview parents with a student with LD, but she didn't specify. To tell you the truth I have a twin that had ADHD and Dyslexia and really wanted to interview my mom, but I couldn't be able to get some information like the part where it asks about IEP since my sister went to school in Mexico, and they didn't have it. Thanks, for your help!! I will definitely read the website you sent me.
