Kewpie - I have that book on my list. My daughter has watched the entire series up until now and enjoys it. I'm not much of a TV watcher and I haven't caught any episodes. I love listening to audio books and will check out Audible to see if there is a voice version. It sounds like it is a book that the entire family would enjoy while we are going back and forth to Maine! Bros - do you enjoy reading? I'd love to hear your recommendations too! I'm always searching for books that the entire family enjoys. RE- the deck vs braces! Totally understand! Both my kids had them and it is quite an investment on top of all the other things they need. But, totally worth it. Most parents I speak to would rather spend money and time on their children than anything else. Whenever I look at my kids' smiles, I have no regrets. I enjoy reading, mostly fantasy and fiction, however. I had an overbite, an underbite, and a crossbite. My orthodontist was shocked. Braces stretched out my jaw and made it so my tongue could sit comfortably within my mouth for the first time.

The problem with braces is that if the kids won't wear the retainer, the teeth will shift although they will likely still look better than when they started. I would only do braces if the kids are truly committed. My husband and I have dual insurance so the braces were not as much of a burden. Both my boys had them and the older one was extremely stubborn and did not want to wear the retainer. My youngest one was not sold on the idea so we are waiting to see if she changes her mind. her teeth look straight ,it just an overbite thing. Before I had kids, the company I worked for then got dental insurance for 50% of the cost of braces and I jumped on it. My teeth were a crowded and a slightly crooked in the front. It was not bad in real life but in pictures, the flash would cast a shadow making them look much worse that they really are. I was really happy I did it but, there was a lot of discomfort as they took out 3 teeth so there was a lot of movement during the 2.5 years I had them. I would do it again.

My parents have medical & dental, but they only pay $1000 for orthodontic stuff - so my parents had to pay something like $5000 on top of what insurance covered because my mouth was so odd

Michelle,
Thank you for asking. Cancer-wise I am doing well. My hair has grown back though not with the same texture. It grew back curly and wavy, not straight. I am on Arimidex, which I will have to take for five years. According to my Oncologist, studies show that women with an estrogen sensitive tumor do better when they take an Aromatese Inhibitor following their chemotherapy.
I like to listen to audio books, too. If your son hasn't read the Maze Runner series yet, they were quite enjoyable for all of us to listen to.
We've had a lot of rain in the Chicago area - almost daily for a number of days. I've had to put off getting tickets for outdoor performances.
Bros,
I hope you're feeling well today.
If you haven't read Ishiguro's The Buried Giant, I encourage you to give it a try. It's unlike anything he's written before, a fantasy really, but he deals with issues he's dealt with in his other books such as memory, etc. The start is a bit slow going, but once you get past the part where Ishiguro has only introduced the two main characters, the pace of the story picks up.
The other book I enjoyed is The Goldfinch.

The other book I enjoyed is The Goldfinch. Most recently I read Firefight by Brandon Sanderson, it's the sequel to his novel Steelheart, and it is part of his Reckoners series. It's basically a series that poses the question "What if a random selection of the population gained superpowers and by using their powers, they get driven insane."
