Does any one have any experience with this? Earlier this week I went to refil my daughters prescription and they gave me a new generic.
Clearly surprised, the pharmacy gave me the standard "generics are tested to be as effective..." And "even with a no-substitution note, drug plan may not cover the non-generic now".
I am just having a flashback, de ja vu moment when generic Concerta came out.

I use generic bupropion/welbutrin regularly in my clinical practice, and the generic and branded product are effectively the same products. I think the once a day, extended release is still under branded patent, though. The generic is still a twice a day dose. In the stimulants for ADHD, like concerts, adder all, metadate, the chemical vehicle that causes the medication to be time released gradually, has been a closely kept proprietary secret, I think. It has been hard for the generic pharmaceutical makers to duplicate the time released vehicles, and that is why there is such a variation between the performance and effects of the generics vs the branded name stimulants.

My daughter was taking 300mg Wellbutrin extended release 1x day. Now the generic 300 1x day ... Same drug as the linked article describes.
She started a few days ago. Kind of worried based on what I have just read. She has been doing well recently but is entering her "fragile" period of the year.

Whew! The doctor was in in but the receptionist was. She was able to call in the change to my pharmacy and the pharmacy accepted this. My girl is now back on the name brand Wellbutrin. She was complaining of headaches during the week on the generic. Coincidental? Maybe yes, maybe no.

Glad to hear the doctor's office is responsive to your concerns; I hope the brand name works without the headache side effects. Let us know!

According to the article I linked, the 300mg was withdrawn from the market, why are you still able to get them? And yes, there are differences between Generic and Brandname and so the side effects your daughter has is probably due to it.
