Hello: I saw information re the above in the New York Times today as well as my local newspaper. The FDA approved this new procedure to use in conjunction with traditional methods of diagnosing ADHD in order to improve accurate identification of children with ADHD. The new test, known as the Neuropsychiatric EEG-Based Assessment Aid (NEBA) System, measures electrical impulses given off by neurons in the brain. It will be used with children from 6 to 17 years of age. The procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes and it calculates the ratio of certain brain wave frequencies called of beta and theta waves, which per the article, occur in higher ratios in children with ADHD vs without ADHD.
