Hello, My son has been taking strattera for 3 days now and so far the most noticable change is he is tired often but listens better than before....every little change helps. He has had a runny nose though since he started taking it, I dont' know if maybe he has ironicly just caught the sniffles or if it could be a reaction to the meds. Anyone know about this? He can't swallow the pills yet just 4.5 yrs old we tried the tic tacs but he kept gagging so we are giving it a break and letting him take it in syrup. Also how does strattera work since it isn't a stimulant? I didn't ask the dr and we don't see him for 2 more weeks Thanks April

If he actually has a runny nose, it's probably a coincidence. But if he is sniffing and rubbing his nose a lot without much sign of mucus, you should know that one of the side effects of Strat is dry nose and cotton mouth. Its worse during the winter for my son with the heat on. He uses saline nose spray, Ocean or Ayer. The heat at school is VERY drying so he keeps a bottle in his desk. It is not medicated so they let him use it no prob.
