Now before you all start laughing, I want to know if any of you have experienced any of this. A little background first. I have always had what I call a 'little tiny bit' of ESP. I always knew when my sister would call, get a feeling just before something bad happened (although it might not be the person I thought it would be), etc. My husband died very unexpectedly 10 years ago, and immediately after his death, very strange things began happening and I knew it was him. Lights turned on, inanimate objects moved from where I left them, I couldn't find the object anywhere, then it would appear again right where I left them, that kind of stuff. I also would see figures out of the corner of my eyes, i.e., looks like someone walking around a corner, but of course, when I went to look around the corner, no one was there. Also had a very strange incident at my dd's house in Virginina Beach, at least 5 years after he died. We had placed a quart of raspberries in the fridge for a fruit salad and the raspberries were sitting on top of a covered dish in which my dd had made dessert. Went to make the fruit salad, and no raspberries. We tore the fridge apart, looked through all the cupboards (as I've done stupid things like that before), even checked the garbage -- no raspberries. We sit down to dinner, then my daughter goes to the fridge to take out the dessert and there are the raspberries, right where we left them, on top of the dessert. My poor dd was so freaked out. I had told her stories before about these strange things, but she did not believe me. One more incident at her house shortly after I left was more than enough to convince her. She lost the remote to her tv and her and my grands tore apart the living room looking for it. Removed the cushions, dragged the sectional apart, checked down in the back of couch, etc. No luck. She sent the kids to bed, the lights were out in the living room and she said she got tired of getting up to change the channel, so she was going to go upstairs to her bedroom where she had a tv and remote. She went to get up off the couch and there, glowing in the dark, about two feet from her, was the remote lying on the couch. She called me, hysterical, begging me to ask my late husband to please leave her alone. I told her that she was his favorite (he was her step-father) because she went into the military and my late husband was a career military man. Anyway, the real question I have is that recently my son moved into a very old house (the oldest on his street) and strange things have begun happening. I babysit for him regularly and usually spend the night before there, sleeping downstairs in the living room. This past week, my daughter-in-law mentioned that my youngest grand (20 mo. old), kept looking up, pointing and saying the name Bob. She thought it was cute, and I didn't say anything else about it. Then, my DIL also tells me that at night she's begun hearing sounds like someone is softly walking around downstairs. Now, in my head I'm thinking that this is defintely ghost material, but say nothing. My son has always laughed at me about these stories and is a non-believer. This morning he calls me, very upset because he was awoken by very loud footsteps coming from downstairs (he was still in bed), and this was also heard by my 7 yr. old gd who asked her father 'who was downstairs?' My son said the footsteps are very loud compared to the first time he heard them. If you've read through this very long post, thanks, and has anyone else experienced this? My son is contacting the former owner to see if she had experienced anything like this as she lived there for 10 years.

Forgot to add that both my DIL and a friend of hers have seen a shadow cross the doorway to the kitchen, which is visible from the living room.

No laughing here! My kids swear there is something else living in our house with us but their experiences don't compare to yours.
Yours sounds just like an episode out of Ghost Hunters (shiver!)...that show on the SyFy Channel.

I haven't personally experienced this, but I believe it. My DH just told me that there have been spirit sitings on a street close by that has an overpass over route 95. A young child died there a couple of years ago and this is when the spirit began visiting.
Is it frightening, or can you take comfort that it might be your DH? I'm not sure how I would feel. I think a bit uncomfortable.

M, I do not think it is my late husband as he usually would use energy for signs that he was here. Lights being turned on, objects being moved. Right after his death almost every night, lights that I had turned off, both inside and outside the house, were on in the morning. One night, I got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and when I came out of the bedroom, I could see the light to the basement on, shining around the edges of the door. It was an old farmhouse and I NEVER went in the basement as it was a dirt floor, very low ceilings, etc., so I never turned that light on. In addition, you had to open the basement door to even get to the light switch. I never felt afraid and my sister said she thought he was trying to 'light my way.' Who knows -- maybe he was? The incidents like that have lessened considerably over the past three years so I'm guessing he's moved on - finally.

I don't have personal experience, but my father-in-law's 2nd wife (I think that makes her my step-mother-in-law) believes there have been several instances since he died 4 years ago that can't be explained simply by "coincidence." She is a very "logical" woman, in her 70's, and we chat on a regular basis. She and my f-i-l owned a camper/trailer and would spend summer weekends at it, and they had favorite restaurants and other places to visit. She says that more than once when she's been back to those places, situations will arise, especially when she's looking for something or thinking about a problem, and all of a sudden she will realize their favorite song is playing on the radio (it's not a current or "top 40" hit) and shortly thereafter she will locate whatever's missing, or find a solution to whatever was troubling her. She says she can "feel" his presence and is very appreciative of it. They had a good relationship, and it's comforting to her that it continues, albeit in a different way.

i`m freaked out!!!!
although many ears ago i heard some one in the kitchen doing dishes. I thought it was my hubby. He heard the same thing he thought it was me. In the morning the dirty dishes were still there. Darn ghosts should get some manners and actually do the dishes if they wake us up at night.

After I had my dd I used to have dreams. Big dreams. Very vivid dreams. She is 22 now.
When she was an infant I used to dream of me having two more boys, over and over again. It was weird and not like anything I ever experienced. I just knew that I would continue to have two boys after her, although my ex was not a person that you would want to have more children with ya know?
It was weird. It was over and over again. I didn't think anything would come of it at the time. I eventually married my best friend and guess what we had two boys.
On our honeymoon we were in Vegas. I dreamed of two numbers ( I know I know weird, it's a classic thing. You dream numbers and you win the lottery or win big in Vegas right?)
I dreamed of the numbers 8 and 11. I woke up and told my husband and he laughed. It was so real though. I can't explain it. I felt it was totally different than a normal dream. But I laughed too. Cuz really, it wasn't realistic lol.
So we went downstairs, had breakfast and started gambling. My dh likes blackjack and I like roulette so we separated. I forgot all about the numbers and so did he. I was at the roulette table and finishing up when he showed up for lunch. I had just lost my last 20 bucks in my pocket and he put down his money before we were going to leave for lunch.
All of a sudden I had this very weird feeling. It was strange and strong. It was the number 8.
My dh was just putting chips down and all of a sudden I said put money on number 8. He remembered the dream I had and laughed and didn't do it. I said NO you need to put money on number 8! He said "your crazy lol!" I said "No, I'm NOT!" Put the money on number 8!!!
I just can't imagine how I could explain how strong this feeling was but it was something I have never felt before in my life.
Well the DORK ignored me and the number hit was black 8!!!!
The roulette dealer stepped back and was shocked lol. We ran out of money and went to lunch.
I had a few more dreams after that, that came true, but in the last 10 years I have lost it. I so wish I could have it back but it's gone.
But yes I do believe. I found out later that my mother and grandmother also has this gift, but I didn't find out till later in life. They just were too embarrassed to share I guess.
BTW I stayed up very late last night ( haven't been able to sleep lately) and watched physic kids on the physcic channel. I loved it and have been thinking about it all day!

My son is going to check the abstract for the house to see if there are any Robert's on the list. Also, forgot to add that Robert is my former husband and my son's father.

Did Bob like raspberries?
I think there is something very real about ghost stories. Throughout history, there are accounts of people from all cultures, all faiths, and all educational levels having these types of experiences. I believe there are too many stories such as yours for them all to be illusions or delusions.
(Great use of the emoticon, by the way!)
tebald--if I ever win a free trip to Vegas, I'm bringing you with me!

Hi Di, I thought Id add a little bit of a story we had back when I was a kid. My parents use to purchase real estate, fix it up and rent them out. One of the houses my dad purchased was a half burned down home which he rebuilt. When he was rebuilding the half that burned some things would be found in other than where they were left the night before. These things were objects found in the rubble in the burned section and they would move back and forth between the garage which did not burn and the new part of the house. Coins would be found in the new hallway. Now my dad was not a really in tune kind of man so he probably would not have felt the presents of a ghost if they hopped out and kicked him in the you know where so he really never mentioned anything but the movement of the items.
When the construction was complete the first tenants told my mom that there was a woman and a child ghost in the hallway and dimes fell out of the ceiling in the hall. After two tenants claimed this my mom asked a neighbor what happened in the fire and sure enough a mom and an infant died in the fire. Weird.
My mother also claims when my brother passed away that he use to come behind her in the hallway of his house which she inherited and put his hand on her shoulder just the same way he use to do when he was alive. She swears it happened. Her neighbor also told my mom that she would feel him around sometimes too. Weird again because all the way back in California I heard someone walking around in his old room too. That went on for a while but I do not hear it anymore.

I grew up in a very old house that my dad inherited from his great great aunt and uncle. His uncle was the doctor for the sanitarium which is across the street from my house (long since been converted in to apartments). The uncle's office was in his home where we lived and my parents still live. The furniture in the house consist of mostly antiques, some of which include but are not limited to; the doctors old desk, medical tables/shelves and tools and equipment, and much more.
As a child my imagination would run wild, especially with the slightest noise, shadow movement, etc.. The old single-pain wood windows rattled when you just walked through the house (there was no sneaking out of this house, lol), everything in the house creeked.
Many people claim the apartments are haunted. I never experienced anything while visiting friends over the years who lived in those apartments.
I'm still on the fence as to if I believe or not.

I believe:) although I haven't exp anything but my neighbors friends son just died. He was sick and "special" they knew from when he was born he had a limited life. Anyway the 2 other siblings have said to their parents that their brother has visited and spoken with them. The greatest thing is that this kid was unable to speak his whole life!
Dihicks sorry your being spooked though> I think if my husband died I would find comfort but not sure I would like to go crazy trying to find things he hid!! Hes prob laughing. hehe I sure wish I had a bit of your ESP though~~

2kids, he never really moved anything around at my own house, just when I visited my dd, or it happened directly to her. I think he REALLY wanted her to know that he was there, as I already believe in this stuff. Strange though, when my dad died, I never felt his presence or had any of those other things happen and we were very close. I chalk it up to my Dad was a guy that never looked back and he zoomed ahead to whatever is next, LOL!

Here's a spouse in an urn story for ya.....
My good friend broke up with her hubby because they got married when they were young and dumb and he was always a day late and a dollar short. He took off out of state and was killed in a motorcycle crash. Since they were still married they asked permission from my friend if she would allow his body to go to research as he had it on the back of his license. She gave permission and they said they would send her his cremated remains when they were finished. Several years later a box came from the crematorium...... Leave it to this guy to be a day late and a dollar short even when he was dead.....his box came postage due!
She kept him in her China cabinet for several years and she did tell her new boyfriends he was in there and also about how the SOB came postage due. This gal had a good sense of humor and anyone that would qualify had to get over it that's for sure. I think she finally sent him on his way when she remarried.

Things you can do before you say it is the paranormal is to change remote control batteries, call a electrician to check the lights out. There are countless non ghosts reasons as to why these things are happening and I think they should be check out.
Set up some camera and tape recorders when the house is quiet and see what you get.

"There are countless non ghosts reasons as to why these things are happening and I think they should be check out."
I am sure you are correct in some circumstances, however in my case none of the outside lights ever came on during the night while my husband was alive. Also, there were many, many other incidents that would (IMO) rule out coincidence.

Oh I'm sure they didn't which is why you should have an electrician look at them before you jump to the paranormal. I believe in the paranormal and it bothers me when people don't try to rule out causes when most of the time it isn't the paranormal at all.

Di don't go spending a bunch of money on checking the electrical unless you fear for you and yours safety. Your gut feeling in these things is strong enough to allow you to know for yourself. I have not had this type of connection with ghosts other than my suspicion that my brother was up in his old room. I spoke to my mom about this the other day and she asked when it was. Get this it was about the same time that his grave had been disturbed and moved one over without my family's knowledge. Apparently they wanted to fit another family member next to the guy next to him so thought it was okay to dig up my brother - NOT!
I have had some very strong esp type connections with certain live people so I kind of know how strong some of this stuff is.

Oh, there was nothing wrong with the electricity at my former home, it was my late husband's very intense personality, LOL!!!

2kids - I was so sleep deprived after the birth of my first child. I went to get another cup of coffee one morning and the pot was GONE! I looked everywhere, thought DH was messing with me as he was working in the cottage below our house. Called him to tell him "Not funny" and to "Give the coffee pot back NOW". He swore he did not have it and came up because I was so upset and sure someone STOLE it. Well after careful investigation to assure me there was nobody in the house, the full pot of coffee was found just where I had left it which was right above the coffee maker in the cabinet where I kept the coffee cups.

haha mamak that is sooo funny! back to ghosts> My dyslexic LD dd 13 has said in the past that she sees dead people?? She hasnt said anything since last summer but she was saying she saw a little girl hiding behind our air handler thats outside and it freaked her out. She was also freaking out her friends and sister?? I thought it might of been her trying to get a rise out of everybody. But after this thread I just wonder?? I dont want to mention it because she hasnt said anything. Do you think she could have some of this esp???
