This is an issue all in the past for us but I sometimes I just can't stop myself from obsessing over the trauma we endured last year. New, (horrible, mean) teacher combined with DS having a tough year due to misdiagnosis and med issues. Anyway.... I've been wondering, is it OK for a teacher to tell other teachers about your child's med issues if you haven't given them permission to?

That's a good question and I don't know the legalities of it. I would wonder why the teacher would do that? Was it just gossip or ridicule or what was the motivation? Maybe that is a prime consideration to determine if it is allowed?
I think if the teacher were to tell another parent then that is clearly wrong and even illegal but I wonder if once you tell a teacher this the other teachers have right to know? Don't they all have the right to access the files of their students? Also, the nurse in the office that gives out medication would know...

Well the thing is, it's not in his file. He has a 504 in place only for his seizure disorder and the only med listed is an anticonvulsant. Last year because DS was struggling so much during the time he was on Concerta without a MS I told the teacher because I needed her to know so we could communicate about what was working etc. Every time he had a problem, she was quick to bring medication into the discussion regardless of who was present. It doesn't really matter right now I guess. I need to stop obsessing about it but thinking about it has brought up another question that I may ask in a separate thread.
