That was too easy. Met with the teacher and guidance counselor this morning. The teacher was requesting the 504 to provide him more time on the FCAT test. I asked that she also put all the accomodations she was making for him in the classroom into the plan also. No one had a problem with that. I already had the doctor's note documenting inattentive ADHD from last year. The guidance counselor said they don't normally approve 504 plans for students with passing grades. For justification it was written in that if the teacher wasn't making accomodations for him that he would be failing - not completing assigned work.

I'm glad it was an easy process for you! It wasn't hard for us either and now we meet "formally" twice a year to update the written copy of it. I think it's interesting that your school doesn't normally approve 504 plans for students with passing grades, especially when just asking for accomodations. My ds has just accomodations (no modifications) and he's in the gifted and talented program.

My ds has just accomodations (no modifications) and he's in the gifted and talented program. Mine is in the gifted program also. It was hard for me to understand at first how much this adhd thing could affect his performance at school. I had no clue he had a problem of sorts until he got into school. He's fine with anything that doesn't involve writing. Unfortunately, school involves alot of writing.

That's good news. It's great that the school did not give you any problems with the 504.
