Tomorrow is my dd evaluation at the Penn State clinic. This past friday they did a 3 hour observation of her at school. She didn't know they were there. One of the teachers was absent and I was a little bit upset about that, because it was the teacher were the class is all hands on, just doing science projects and taking notes from the board. I really wanted to know how she focused in there cause I heard it is a little chaotic. Well, all they got to see her do was sit and work on a packet. Other than that I guess it was a pretty typical day, she said she even got in trouble because she forgot her homework in her homeroom and had to go and get it. This gets their name on the board. Some of the tests they are doing are the WISC and the BASC 2, some curriculum based and also a hearing and speech test. Anyone familiar with these, and what results I can get from them? I think she has some dyslexic tendencies, I hope they can check for that too. I did mention it to them. I am so excited to maybe get some answers. nat

The WISC is an IQ test. Not sure what the BASC is (behavioral scales?).
Good luck nat.

My dd had her evaluation last week.I'm waiting to hear the results. She had the BASC.In her handbook it says the BASC is Behavior Assessment System for Children. It is a multimethod, multidimensional approach to evaluating behavior and self-perceptions for children aged 4-18 years.I hope this helps. They also gave her the WISC-III/IV,Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test,Woodcock-Johnson Psycho-Educational Battery III,Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Intergration, and ADDES.The ADDES is Attention Deficit Disorders Evaluation Scale. She was dx with ADHD by 2 doctors.I don't know why they gave her that test.I thought the school psychologist could not dx ADHD. Good luck with the eval.Maybe we both can finally gat some answers.I don't know how long to wait for the results,It's been a week today.I hate to call and bug them.

Thanks d, Mayleng and Brenda.
The evaluation went well. IT was at a teaching college, so doctoral students did most of the interviews with the Dr. watching behind two sided glass. They interviewed me for the BASC also, which is to get a good idea on behavior and attention. We were there from 8 until 3 with an hour for lunch.
The speech and hearing people said we would get a report in about 2 weeks and the others said a month. They will call and set up an appointment for me to go back and they will go over the tests with me.
Brenda, it is hard to wait, hopefully we will get the results soon, so we can get some answers and help our kids. That is what I hope to get the most from this, some concrete ideas on how to help her learn in her own best way. I know she is smart, the info just seems to get jumbled up somehow.
