Our school started today.I'm worried about my baby starting K ,but I'm just as worried about my ADHD 2nd grader. She had such a hard year last year.I hope they both have a good day. My sons Kindergarten teacher gave all the parents a tissue attached to a little poem.I didn't cry until I read the poem.Brenda

Keep us posted as to how the day went, Brenda. What poem did the teacher attach to the tissue (would you mind sharing it with us)?
We don't start school until 9/7...both my babies will be in Middle School this year! Time sure does fly! I'm not as worried about C this year because (so far) the m.s. staff has been very supportive. He will be in an "inclusion" team for 6th grade (reg. teacher along w/Spec. Ed. teacher...spec. ed. and mainstream kids)...and will still be pulled out for Language Arts & math (self-contained). I'm most nervous about him having to change classes and deal with a locker (so am thankful my daughter will be at the same school this year - 8th grade...hopefully, she'll keep an eye on him)

They both had a good first day.I didn't find any notes in their bookbags so I guess they didn't get into any trouble. Here is the poem.Get out your tissues. "It has finally arrived. You have no words to say.Your baby's starting school. It's the very first day.
You've thought about this day with excitement and with fears,So we've given you this tissue to help dry your tears.
We know you may be scared. Please know we understand. You can be sure you're leaving them in safe and loving hands.
We will love them as our very own for this and many years. So please use our little tissue to dry your falling tears.
After shedding your few tears, just remember all they'll learn. And think of all they'll have to share and their smiles when you return."

that's beautiful, Brenda... and yes, I did tear up while reading it!
We just got back from 2 weeks vacation in FL (Disney & Daytona Beach area)...wonderful & relaxing!
School starts next Wed...C has admitted to being a little apprehensive about starting middle school. We are going to do a walk through of the building & both their schedules on Friday...I'll keep you posted!
How has school been going for S & B?

Glad to hear you had a relaxing vacation Lurk. It's nice when you can "relax" while vacationing with your kids.We did that for the first time this year because the kids are a little older. I've not received any phone calls or notes from Steph's teacher so I assume she's doing ok.Today is the 16 th day.She did bring home her tests yesterday and they were all A's and B's. Brandon hates Kindergarten because he's so shy and hates being away from home.He complains of a stomach ache every morning. It's getting a little better. Good luck next week with middle school. Cathy,I wish we lived near each other so our Stephanie's could play together.

We started today 5th grade today. My son started without meds for the first time since 2nd grade. No calls either! Hopefully this is a good start. He said his teacher is very strict. I have heard wonderful things about her tho. He seemed to like her control.
