Anyone here homeschooling their kids?
I am thinking we might hs ours, we are putting together a 'trial' program for the summer before we dive right in!
Especially since Ryan and I both have ADHD. Now that we are both medicated, I am thinking that hs would have some REAL advantages for our family! Ryan really wants to hs, but since he has no idea what that means, he's ready to jump in and try this summer.
Thoughts from anyone?

I homeschooled my two boys for their 3rd grade year. I loved it and so did they but for 4th grade they decided that was enough and wanted to be around other kids more.
I think if you are able to do this it is great. My boys learned more in that year they were homeschooled and were able to catch up for all the gaps in their learning that took place in regular school's 1st and 2nd grade.
Just think of it....
No getting up early and dealing with the morning rush.
No bad association or bullies to worry about.
Your child can receive individual attention from you.
You can teach out of the box and be creative.
You don't have to worry about teachers neglecting your child or feel the need to educate them about brain disorders.

We homeschooled for the third grade year, too. Many, many advantages to doing it. In fact, I'm giving serious consideration to doing it again next year. I just found out today than dd has some serious visual issues that we were not aware of. Ugh. I'm so concerned.
The main problem we ran into with homeschooling was feeling isolated a lot because most of the other homeschoolers we knew lived very far away from us. That year, we were also trying various stimulants to control the ADHD, our first experience with ADHD meds. It was not pretty. As we discovered, we cannot tolerate stimulants.
We did some wonderful things that year, met some fascinating people, learned the joys of not sticking to scope and sequence. It was not easy though. I was tired a lot.

It has advantages and disadvantages. There is next to no ability for my children to socialize we live too far away from homeschooling groups. You do get a lot done as far as knowing they know a subject, but you lose personal time. The whole family changes, my Husband was the prinicipal which he sometimes dreaded at the end of the day. Finally my kids begged to go back, now they beg to be homeschooled.
Make a list and try it, some think it is fantastic some think it is not.
