My 6 year old daughter has been really struggling in school. She's on adderall xr and getting worse. She's been on several other meds in the past 2 years.Last week she lied and told her teacher she had a sister that died. She is getting in trouble for talking, yanking pencils from other children, not following directions, refusing to do what the teacher asks, etc.Yesterday her teacher came out to my car while I was waiting to pick Steph up and wanted me to come see what she did.She colored all over the floor. The teacher told her to stop and she would but would sneak and keep doing it.The principle is making her clean it up today. They want my permission to allow her to be evaluated by the school physiologist. What does a physiologist look for?Should I allow it?She is starting to worry me because she's been getting very angry and hurting her little brother.Last week she jabbed an ink pen in his back.Yesterday she jumped up and down on his back. She's never been this bad.I think the adderall is making her do these things. Her dr changed her adderall xr to ritalin la and she starts it tomorrow.I just don't know what to do anymore.I worry about her all the time.Would the school help her more than her dr is?

We had lots of trouble with stimulants, lots of angry outbursts, aggressiveness, etc. Switched to Strattera, much, much better.

h*g Brenda!
C has had an evaluation done by the school psychologist. He/She will do an assortment of tests (probably some that Steph has had before)...he/she will probably also do some classroom evaluations. I would recommend you allow them to evaluate her and make sure they send the results to Steph's doctor(s) too. If you are at all concerned, call the school psychologist to find out EXACTLY what kinds of testing /evaluation will be done.
Good luck and keep us posted! h*g h*g h*g h*g

Brenda, the school psych would evaluate her for any Learning Disabilities, and probaby do a Functional Behavior Evaluation. It is a good idea to do it and see if there is anything else going around, plus this is the only way to get accomodations or an IEP. She have be behaving badly because of the Adderall or it could be frustration with an LD or both.
So it is probably a good idea to get an eval done.
