Hi all, When I got into work this morning there was a voice mail from C's teacher. She started off by saying "there is no problem" (always good to hear with our kids). "Today I'm going to start mainstreaming C in science in Mrs. O's class. They are doing the same unit on bones that we are. I wanted to let you know, in case you have any concerns and so you can ask him about it when he gets home" I was so happy. We had talked about it during the conference, but they were holding off until he could be a little more independent in the self-contained class (they were working on him focusing for 10 minute increments with a break). Science is a 40 minute period! I'm and that it goes well! I'll post back later or tomorrow to let you know how he does...

That's fantastic!! Way to go C! Hope it goes great for him. I hope we will be able to start some mainstreaming in the near future, yet at the same time, it scares me that the bubble may burst and it would be a step backwards. I guess ya just have to cross your fingers and take the leap sometimes, right?

Cautiously optimistic...but at the same time, knowing that he HAS to prove himself if he can be mainstreamed again next year. 3 hours until he comes home (need that nailbiting smilie)! &

things seemed to go well yesterday. I didn't get a chance to call the teacher or send in a note (maybe I'll call the school now and leave a message for her to call me back when she has a break). C was very excited that he went to Mrs. O's class for science. He said Mrs. S (the classroom aide) went in with him. He said they had a seat for him (I guess that's one of the things that worried him that I had never thought about) and he did his work.
I spoke with a parent from his old school last night (she was looking for me to volunteer for a PTA function). She said she saw C on Tuesday (they had Author's Day and she is the chair for both elementary school's). She said C got to ask the author the last question and she was impressed with what he asked (she couldn't remember the exact question...when I asked C, I wasn't really sure what he asked). The funny thing is that after last year's nightmare teacher C HATES to write...after meeting this author (Joseph Bruchac...he writes a lot of books on native americans) - he came home and said he wants to be an author!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Ho Ho HO!
