My daughter has come up with some real profound statements lately that make me appreciate her sense of ethics. Here's a few examples that make me proud:
About her teacher and a child with severe LD's: "Mom, I was really proud of Mrs. M. today. When Steven, the kid with Cerebral Palsey, interupted Social Studies to ask why Superman died, she didn't punish him."
Imagine that, an 8 year old squirt passing judgement on her teacher and hoping for her moral-development to continue and someday equal her own! Hee-hee, if only the teacher knew!
About a girl she admires: "Mom, you know what I really like about Claire?" (What Hun?) "Her best friend is a girl with autism."
Way to go, K for knowing what is important to look for in a friend.
About a new kid in class: "Mom, do you know why I want to go to Devin's birthday party? (Why Hun?) Because, he is a new kid in our school and I'd like to help him feel welcome."
I don't know about you guys but I think that often our kids know more about morality than their peers or even most adults! Anybody find the same?

That's sweet chaknine. Sometimes the morality policewoman can go overboard though worrying about other kids and not being able to just "get over" things. Hopefully, with maturity she learn what she can't change and concentrate on what she can change.

TerryB, those are really profound statements from a little one!! S has a concept of morality in the abstract, for example watching a TV program she will comment if a person is "not nice" and why or if they are acting kindly and why, but it doesn't translate in her real life situations. I wish it did!
