I'm sorry I've been MIA for awhile but I've been very busy with problems.Car trouble,OT Therapy for Steph,Evaluating Brandon for SID,homework,Brandon getting used to school,DH was on second shift for 2 months. You get the picture. Do any of you notice that when meds wear off they forget almost everything?Steph can spell all of her spelling words while on meds but at night when we go over them she can't get any right. That really worries me.Why should I give her meds if she forgets what she's learned?Does that mean that she's going to have to be medicated to remember what she's learned?Am i going to have to medicate her for life? She can only take a low dose of adderall(5 mg XR) because she gets tics from the higher doses.I worry that it will get harder when she gets in middle school and needs a dose increase.

Hi Brenda, My opinion...when the meds have worn off at night, Steph can't focus, therefore, can't remember the words. Have you tried quizzing her in the morning when the meds have kicked in? If she remembers them then, I would figure that she does know them but can't focus long enough to remember them when she is not medicated. I know when we try to do homework when C's meds are out of his system, it is a nightmare for all of us, but when he does it right after school he is able to do it (for the most part) independently. Just a thought...
