Well, the weekend came. His algebra teacher gave him a list of makeup work he could do - did he bring his algebra book home with him - Nooooooo!!!! OMG - I give up.

This sounds just like my son as far as not bringing the algebra book home. We have run back to school many nights because of this, I think for him he just forgets because he loves math. Homework in the morning doesn't sound like a bad idea because kids are tired of school by the end of the day anyway. It wouldn't work for us either because I am already getting him up at 5:45 to get ready to catch the bus at 6:15. I know I don't want to get up any earlier than that.

New plan implemented this week. He has a 'Daily Record' Sheet he has to show to each teacher. They write down how he did in class - did he have his work book, did he bother others etc. They also write down if there was homework given and what it was. He then shows the sheet to us so there is no question on the homework and what needs to be done. Of course he still has to bring the text books, worksheets or whatever he needs for the homework back with him ( his latest ploy is not to bring the appropriate text book home) so it's not foolproof but it's a start. I will report back on how effective this is. I don't think I'm going to hold my breath.

Oh, wow I will be back to read this. We dealt successfully with some issues with a classroom, that just thought calling a child a liar would be okay. The homework situation is working through now, becuase this mom let the teacher involved know to many different para's were trying to handle.
We are talking about a child that has a seizure disorder, and can't always remember that he had something to do.

The Daily Record sheet is working pretty well. He doesn't always remember to give it to every teacher but there is usually something on the sheet each day. His homework has picked up a bit and his grades are showing it. A lot of people are keeping an eye on him right now so it might just be that but I do think it's helping. He is also getting to school on time (barely) - that is because the truancy people are on his butt about it. Anything that works!
