We are also having trouble with Math! We are not off to a good start! B seems to have forgot her subtraction, and also mutliplication tables. We have already got the flash card out! She is also having trouble carrying the numbers over with addition. The teacher went over and over with her that 0 x any number is zero, what did she put on her worksheet, well not zero! Does anybody know of anygood software that has math? She like the computer, and I felt this maybehelpful, in addition to her doing flashcards. Shelli

I don't know of any websites but what I do with my boys is go to walmart and get a math book that is their grade level and work on that with them. I also bought them a wipeoff placemat that has math facts on it--you can buy them with any of the facts--add/sub/multi/division. It took my kids awhile to get back into the swing of things when they were younger but I am finding the older they get the easier it gets for them

Shelli, has Brenna ever been given an academic evaluation by the school to see if she has any LDs? I heard Touchmath is a good program at touchmath.com (this is multisensory), also she can go to www.coolmath.com to "play" with their math games and www.learningplanet.com/act/mayhem/index.aspI would suggest if she has not been evaluated to request one from the school in writing. Lindamood Bell has a very good Math program called on CloudNine for LDers, but it is expensive (for the tutoring) but you might be able to buy the program and teach Brenna yourself. Also checkout Saxon Math.

No she has never had a an academic eval. This is the first year we have had problems since starting meds. She also attends a private christian school. Who does an academic eval?? The school or do you take them somewhere? Will a private school do a academic eval?
I will check out the sites, you gave! Thanks!

Ok, you can request the Public School she would have attended (if she weren't attending the Catholic school) to do an academic evaluation. Write to them. Or if you would rather not bother with them (seeing they can reject you), you should get a referral from your Doctor to a Neuropsychologist who would be able to evaluate ADHD, Bipolar and/or other LDs. Most insurance would not pay for evaluation for LDs, so say you want confirmation of ADD or Bipolar then when you see the Neuropsych ask him to also check for any LDs. If your insurance does not cover it, then you might have to pay out of pocket. But it is worth it to know what is going on so that you know how to remediate her issues. Get a good Neuropsychologist - talk to others before you decide.

Shelli why would the public school deny an evaluation? I think they have to accept any student within their attendance area. Just wondering

I just recently was informed of that, even if she is not attending the public school, they still should evaluate her. (if not they better look out, because I will fight them on it)
