Hi Everyone - It's been a while since my last post. We have just recently moved from CO to AZ. My husband & I have been talking about homeschooling for about 8 mo. Well, today, I just got back from the post office where I mailed the enrollment/application forms in for both boys (ages 9 & 4.5) for the AZ Virtual Academy. I have such a sense of relief right now! So many factors played into this decision. We just moved and are currently renting a home. Since school starts here around Aug 14th, that means the boys would start out at this school and then, when we found a home to buy, they would have to be moved to another school. Also, the class sizes here are large (up to 34 in 4th grade) and there is NO WAY our 9 y/o would do well in a class that size. Plus, with this K12 program thru the state, it is tuition free and they supply everything for us. Best of all, our 4.5 y/o can start kindergarten instead of waiting another year. He is soooo ready, but because his b-day falls two weeks outside the "b-day deadline", he'd have to wait. Both my husband and I took a long time to decide, but now that the decision has been made, the forms filled out and mailed, we are both breathing a much deserved sigh that comes with knowing we are doing the right thing Best of all: The boys are thrilled! I would like to thank those of you who have responded so honestly to my past posts concerning homeschooling. Marie
