It's been awhile since I've been on the boards. Tomorrow we have a meeting to go over the test results for our 9yr old. They have been testing him for Auditory Memory Disorder. He has already been diagnose with ADHD - Inattentive Type. He is taking Strattera since last May. We will also be talking about an IEP plan too. I'm just wondering what things I should have ready for tomorrow and what questions I should asked them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you suspect your child has auditory processing problems, i.e. auditory memory, etc. , I would highly recommend - for a truly accurate diagnosis - having an audiologist test him. We had the speech and language therapist do it at school - she said we had a very mild auditory memory problem - we had her tested by an audiologist outside - she said that we had a moderate auditory processing disorder - big difference.
Also, "When the Brain Can't Hear" is an awesome book. Good luck.

We didnt have the meeting today cause the the spec. was out ill. Now we wait. In the mean time I'm going to start looking into having him seen by a specialist outside of school. I will have to see if our medical will cover this for him. Anyway I will keep eveyone posted when I know more.

Virkus100, if you are looking to test for auditory processing, be sure to look for an audiologist who has experience with testing for this.

Virk -
The central auditory processing exam cost us about $300. It was worth it.
