Sorry this is so long..
I am having trouble gettting my sons medication adjusted, so my family physcian recommended a physciatrist. the problem is I have been playing the insurance game of who is covered who is not so he doesn't even have an appointment yet. He has been taking 65 mg of Straterra ( he weighs about 130 lbs) he was taking 36 mg of Concerta also, this made him "fly off the handle" angry, so he was cut down on the Concerta to 18mg. Well, he says that the medication seems to wear off around noon. This is where the subject of education comes in.
At first he was just cutting school, but the last few times he calls me and wants me to sign him out. Everytime I do this I need to get an excuse from doctor so they will be school excused. ( 7 in a grading period = F). The doctor thinks I am enabling his behavior, thus the referral to a psyc. I upped his meds back to 36mg of Concerta, I will take anger as opposed to cuts and fails.
The problem is my son just called again and said he wants me to sign him out again. I told him I couldn't so I am afraid he will cut. We had a big discussion why he cant be in class in the afternoon, it has to do with not being able to talk and socialize.. or just having to sit there all afternoon. There is one class in particular that he says all the kids are stupid because they are all younger students and they annoy him. I have a meeting with the school, but not until Thursday, this is another meeting because the school had to retest him. I don't know what to do in the meantime. Call the school? Call the doctor again? The school has not been overly cooperative..
I have him in couseling , and could probably get an excuse from them, but I never have anyone that is able to pick him up from school, and they won't let him sign out my himself ( only one emergency sign out and he has already used that).
It is like a catch 22... I am in the process of getting him help, but in the meantime , it has been HeXX.
