HEY! You have more posts than me! This obviously isn't a Tae Kwon Do day for you...is it! HA!
Today I got banned to the outter office at work for having "TOO MUCH FUN" (yes, again), the good news is, I'm working on an internet computer now. The inner office only has dummy monitors. Some days I'll be able to sneak on the internet for a quicky post or two! the personel mgr wants me in with the rest of them. The tech mgr says I'm too much fun. Me "I'm finishing my work, no ones sscwreing up, whats the problem?" "It's a matter of time" he says. Ever see Squidward from sponge bob? Thats him, physically and personality. I'm sponge bob and the personel mgr, definetly Patrick. I'm watching way to much Nick jr.!

You are right, It's not Tae Kwon Do Day. That is why I have time to post the info.
I can believe you are way too much fun at the office. Definitely watching too much Nick Jr.
I am done with Tae Kwon do for the week, so if you need any help, let me know.
I have decided to go with the Phototherapy for Michael. I figured it can't hurt and I would do anything to make it easier on him. So I pick up the equipment on Thursday.
He got a D- yesterday for comprehension, it was multiple choice and I figured he just marked whatever took his fancy and got every single one wrong. He obviously didn't read the passage. Today, he did much better - did good work on his math, and told me he tried very hard to concentrate and I told him I could tell from his work. He got a sucker as a reward from his computer teacher for being the only kid in class who was well behaved and did his work.
I'll let you know if the phototherapy works.

I know you don't like to post much about vision therapy, but... well, you brought it up. ;D I thought others might be interested. Whether it is effective or not is up in the air. Stii, others might be interested. It is certainly non-invasive enough to post about, so let us know. If you have a better link than this, please post it. Here is the most basic, laymen info I could dig up. It is being used successfully for depression. www.children-special-needs.org/vision_therapy/what_is_vision_therapy.html

I don't know a whole lot about the vision therapy but I did check into an irlin clinic recently. It is the use of colored filtered lenses to help with dyspraxia, autism, etc. The one part about it that rang true for me was when I had sent the site to Logan's itinerant teacher who happens to be dyslexic and she said that how they showed books (in their demo) looking like a moving river was something she remembered from childhood. I have heard a lot of positive things from parents about it but it is expensive and I wanted to hold off till I was sure Logan would wear the glasses.

kluv2jazz, My son only has Peripherial vision problems, so the recommended therapy by the developmental Optometrist was Phototherapy, which is to shine color lights into his eyes for 20 minutes a day. They also have Vision therapy which also includes some OT type exercise (balancing on a board etc), and this I have heard good results of. VT is very expensive and if you were considering it, make sure you find a reputable Development Optometrist/Provider. The Phototherapy (which we do at home) equipment, follow up checkups/visits will cost $500 all in. This is supposed to be for 8 weeks.

see the irlen method glasses are like $500 also. I just didn't want to spend that kind of money on a 5 year old that wouldn't wear them. The other thing that got me checking into it and that I noticed on the link you had was that he sometimes holds his head at a tilt.

It really didn't help my son much. So be careful and check into it before you invest that much into a pair of glasses. I would check out other providers and get referrals from them before I go with a provider.

I didn't even check into turning it into insurance. Are the prism glasses the same as the ones Irlen clinic uses? I know they are filtered colored lenses and that they do specific colors for what your child needs. but I didn't think they were prism colors.

Kelly, no the glasses my son wears are not colored, I think the lens are cut like a prism (although you can't tell because it looks like a normal lens) it enlarges the print to make it easier on the eye when it comes to reading.
