Interpretation of Scores - HELP

My daughter has recently been tested in multiple areas due to struggles in the classroom. She is 15 years old and a Sophomore in high school. I have her WISC, WIAT and Keymath scores already and just waiting on the reports from the OT and the WRAML. 

Can anyone give me any ideas as to what we are dealing with and what type of support/accommodations I should be asking for at the meeting.

Hi Tristak and welcome to the forum,

Perhaps you write a bit about what difficulties she actually has?
As well her strong areas?

The scores can only really be understood in context.

This has been a very long battle just to get testing done. She struggled to learn to read and didn't read fluently until almost 3rd grade. She did ok in elementary school after that. In middle school we started to notice lots of difficulty in math and reading comprehension. She struggles with comprehension and remembering details in books and the steps when doing math problems. She has lots of difficulty remembering the specific steps to solving math equations and remembering negative/positive numbers. She has very limited skills in multiplication and division. She does much better when shown content multiple times and given multiple opportunities to show she has mastered a skill. She does very well on most classwork and assignments. She does poorly on tests and assessments. She is extremely quiet and reserved. Does not advocate for herself nor will she ask for help unless she is directly asked if she needs help. In middle school they provided math intervention which didn't really improve anything for her. She also has a convergence insufficiency that was identified in middle school. She is very artistic and draws and paints extremely well.

I can understand her issues with remembering details with her working memory like that.

Honestly, you might want to request an IEE and take her to see a neuropsychologist - whereabouts are you from?

I am in Southern NH. Do I have to give them a reason for requesting an IEE? They were not very helpful in the beginning. They didn't even want to evaluate her at first. It took us asking for a referral twice to get them to agree to do some testing.

tristak, I'd like to welcome you to our forum. As the other posters have said, it's often difficult to look at a single set of numbers, without a basis of comparison. You mentioned that your daughter struggled to read in early elementary school...was any testing done when she was younger?

It's interesting that your daughter has a convergence insufficiency, yet she excels at drawing and painting...I'm wondering if she's ever been tested by an audiologist, for possible auditory processing deficits? The reason I ask, is because her WIAT comprehension scores are noticeably lower than other areas. While her difficulties with multiplication and division are most likely related to her weak working memory, I would definitely want to verify the auditory component...In the meantime, you might want to check out some of the following resources:

Bros suggested what I was thinking RE the neuropsychologist. The gap between processing speed and working memory is pretty big, and there are more tests that can clarify why.

Did she have any treatment for the convergence insufficiency? Was she "symptomatic"?
