Here's an interesting link to an article about a study of RNA bits in the blood that can screen for depression and depression treatment effectiveness. If validated by other studies, it could be used as a standard battery of blood tests, such as thyroid screening or liver screening tests are used. It could also go far to erase the stigma of depression, reinforcing depression as a biological condition rather than a phenomena of the will. www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/health/ct-depression-blood-test-met-0916-20140916-story.html Now I see the link is not working. Can anyone help me post a good link to this article?

I did a search using "depression blood test redei" (Eva Redei is the lead investigator from Northwestern Univ. on the study) and found www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/16/blood-test-depression_n_5826592.htmlThat article also mentions "Zachary Kaminsky, Ph.D., of the Mood Disorders Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine, wasn’t involved with the study but is excited about its potential implications for depression treatment. Kaminsky is a pioneer in blood tests to predict suicide risk, and although he and Redei measure very different things in their tests, he sees that both researchers have similar goals when it comes to creating biological tests for mental illnesses." Very encouraging news for many people, as it could lift the stigma of having an otherwise "unprovable" condition.
