Hi, It feels like forever but finally my 15 yr old son was tested using WISC-IV UK ASSESMENT and WIAT ASSEMSMENT. the school very kindly handed this to me o the last day of the school term with no discussion but informed that a meeting will happen sometime in September! but that doesn't help us now as some of the scores are little concerning, here is what it says......
WISC ASSESMENT
THE VERBAL COMPREHENSION INDEX.....81...10TH PERCENTILE.....LOW AVERAGE RANGE PERCEPTUAL REASONING INDEX......63....1ST PERCENTILE....EXTREMELY LOW RANGE WORKING MEMORY INDEX....86....18TH PERCENTILE.....LOW AVERAGE RANGE PROCESSING SPEED INDEX...83....13TH PERCENTILE....LOW AVERAGE RANGE
WIAT ASSESMENT
READING WORD READING.....93...PERCENTILE RANK 32 READING COMPREHENSION...76...PERCENTILE RANK 5 PSEUDOWORD DECODING...87....PERCENTILE RANK 19
MATHEMATICS NUMERICAL OPERATIONS...71..PERCENTILE RANK 3 MATHEMATICAL REASONING...75...PERCENTILE RANK 5
WRITTEN LANGUAGE SPELLING....78....PERCENTILE RANK 7
They also did a DETAILED ASSESMENT OF SPEED OF HANDWRITING which was 84 and Percentile rank of 15.4
These score a little confusing and they have talked about reading material for dyscalculia and dyspraxia.....

traceyr, welcome to Millermom's forum. We have members from English speaking countries world-wide, but the majority of people who post are from the U.S.,; we don't want to start referring to educational laws and guidelines in the States, if they don't apply. When it comes to test results, the first thought that comes to my mind is NVLD/NLD (Non-verbal learning disability). Did you ask your son's school to conduct the assessment, or did they do it because they observed him having difficulties in the classroom? Does he have difficulties in social interactions as well? How would you describe him, both in terms of his strengths as well as weaknesses? Does this sound like your son: files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED461238.pdf The more we know about him, the better our ability to suggest how to help him reach his full potential!
