Hello All! My 7 year old DD was just evaluated by the school. Following are the scores of her Woodcock Johnson III test. My question is does the GIA count as an IQ test? I was specifically looking for a point difference between the verbal and non verbal IQ as I had seen on previous IQ tests done on my other children, but now they did a different test? And do any of the other scores scream out anything to you guys? Thank you!

That is not a standard IQ test.
Also, the results are rather scattered when you get to the subtests - processing speed especially so, which to me indicates ADHD or some other issue with executive function

Do you have any sub-test scores? They are sometimes more telling in specific areas. What are your child's learning issues and why did the school evaluate her?

The Woodcock Johnson Cognitive is an IQ test. Your child has very strong thinking skills - just one point short of high average. Most likely the psychologist computed the GIA for her rather than a full scale IQ because there was such a difference between her processing and other areas of cognition. Had she computed an full scale IQ score (overall IQ), it would have been brought down by the the processing. The clusters for the WJIII are not the same as for the WISC Composite scores (the IQ test you are probably more familiar with). But there is some overlap. This link may help you to sort it out: alpha.fdu.edu/psychology/woodcock_cog_descrip.htm and alpha.fdu.edu/psychology/woodcock_index.htmYour DD scored well on the Fluid Reasoning cluster and the visual processing subtests - both measures of non verbal reasoning. She also scored will on the Verbal ability - this is related to the WISC verbal comprehension index. The differences between these two domains is not great. The main areas of difference is between all areas of cognition compared to low processing speed.
