Great find! This website has a lot of other useful info too - and some specialized info for those in NH.
Just as an FYI - the essential guides are also at GreatSchools - but buried and difficult to find. I often provide them as handouts in the workshops I conduct. They are outstanding.

I just hit the jackpot: www.greatschools.net/pdfs/You'll have to look up for yourself, but here are some wonderful finds. DON'T click on "parent directory", but all the rest should take you to familiar PDFs on important topics.

Michaellea -- I was just very fortunate. See the last link I provided above for Parental Observation Form -- well I got to thinking when I was looking at the file name and its extension. I noticed that this file is saved under a directory called pdfs and thought to myself, "I wonder if there are any other PDF in that directory?" So I edited the address to remove the exact filename and viola the index of all these pdfs that you see above appeared

Thanks, Healthy; these kind of visual flow charts are very helpful.
Some states may have extra protections for parents. For instance, in Massachusetts, if a parent requests an evaluation in writing, the SD MUST evaluate within 30 school days and hold a meeting to discuss the evaluation in 45 days from the authorized evaluation. Also, if the parent wants the evaluation report in MA, they should make the request in writing and the school must provide it within 48 hours of the meeting.

Some of these links no longer work. Yes, I can access the ones Michellea posted, but can't seem to find or access other essential guides.
If anyone locates them elsewhere, please post links here.
(we may want to remove or note bad links from this thread--what are your thoughts?)

Dhfl143, your suggestion about removing or noting web addresses that no longer work is a very good idea; I don't have time to go through them all today, but will try to update the links in my posts soon.
For what it's worth, I did just try a brief search on Greatschools.org for "Essential Guides" and it resulted in over 500 articles; I'm thinking the old Schwablearning resources might still be buried somewhere over there, but I'll have to "narrow the search," perhaps picking phrases like "IEP Essential Guides" or something similar.
