I thought this teacher's observations are interesting. grantwiggins.wordpress.com/2014/10/10/a-veteran-teacher-turned-coach-shadows-2-students-for-2-days-a-sobering-lesson-learned/I've often wondered how many kids wind up with 504s, IEPs or labels...not because they are truly learning disabled, but because they don't learn well in the "sit down, be quiet, listen to every word, take notes, memorize them, take a paper-pencil test" approach to learning that we call education. Granted, not every kid learns well from small group discussions or needs a Nerf-hoop on the back of the Calculus classroom door. But I believe we provide too few opportunities for interactive learning and focus too much on passive, robotic learning.

What an insightful educator - It would be wonderful if more schools had a position like High School Learning Coach, whose job is to work with teachers and admins. to improve student learning outcomes!
