www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2014/09/11/kindergarten-teacher-there-is-a-good-possibility-i-will-be-fired-but/The above article highlights some of the difficulties that even well-intentioned teachers encounter when trying to meet all the mandatory school testing requirements placed upon them. The kindergarten teacher in this story is in Florida, and has over 25 years of classroom experience. She points out, in great detail, the various types of tests that she's required to administer, and how much time it takes away from the instructional time she's supposed to have, and so she is refusing to follow the state mandate. She sent the letter to parents, expecting to be "let go" for doing so, but surprisingly her District Superintendent wrote a response not to announce her firing, but informing parents of what else they might do to hopefully convince FL State Legislators to address the problems.
