I am wondering since nothing has been posted here since 2012 and most posts are older if there are new apps or improved apps for Android or ipod touch that people have used that might help my son as he starts college. He will be taking Spanish for the first time ever, English Comp 1, Hisory, Earth Science and lab and a Freshman intro type course. He is done with math. Anything that would help with organization in general, take notes/get all notes down in class and writing would be of special interest and probably things to help him study for tests. I like the flashcard idea and will look into flashcard apps. I thought Evernote, which came on his new laptop sounded wonderful but he looks at it and sees lots of instructions and is overwhelmed. So I guess he needs easy to use and understand apps. His computer also has Dragon Speech but, again, he hasn't studied it too much to see what all he can do with it. He has the Lenovo computer with all the commercials right now. it's pretty cool and I think he could really use it to his benefit he can learn what will help him and how to use it.

I have no financial interest in this product, but thought some here may want to take advantage of the savings this week on this app. Voice Dream Reader is now on sales at 50% off this week. The last day to take advantage of this offer is January 4, 2015. Here is a YouTube demo by a colleague, Karen Janowski: (copy and paste link in new browser window) Here is a link to the Voice Dream Reader by Voice Dream LLC at the App Store: appsto.re/us/kiXKD.iI have communicated with the developer and am excited that he is also working on a new app called Voice Dream Writer specifically to help persons with dyslexia, scheduled to be released shortly. I am also looking forward to seeing how this new app may benefit students with dyslexia, as wel

www.toolbox.thearc.org is a place to find, share, rate and review technology for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities...it allows a person to search for technology based on different needs (ie, by age, whether it's to meet educational needs or for personal living, etc.) and currently has over 500 listings.

I'm bumping this thread, since technology changes so quickly. Perhaps readers have found additional apps that they can add here.

itunes.apple.com/us/app/sleep-cycle-alarm-clock/id320606217?mt=8 For "i" products: The Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock can play soothing sounds (ie, ocean waves) on whatever volume you have your phone set to, then fades out as you fall asleep, eventually becoming silent. It enables you to track the quality of your sleep, with notes, including how the weather, number of hours in bed, daily exercise or stress, etc., affect it.

I just read an article that said Photomath is available for both "i" and android devices, at the iTunes and Google Play stores: "Simply point your camera toward a math problem and Photomath will magically show the result with detailed step-by-step instructions. Photomath provides: ∙ Camera calculator ∙ Handwriting recognition (NEW) ∙ Step-by-step instructions ∙ Smart calculator Use Photomath+ for more powerful features: ∙ Complete step-by-step instructions ∙ Colorful explanations ∙ Extra math knowledge" photomath.net/en/
